Flags: Stats with country flags.
Cache support: feature to lessen the load on google analytics and in-turn page loading of wordpress page, where the widget is placed, will be faster.

    Tried your plugin & widget and nothing happens… Literally, there’s nothing displayed in the preview, or the sidebar widget. It is currently active on the site, no title and should be displayed at the bottom. But nothing.

    • PepLamb

      yes its safe to input the password since the gapi uses https for authentication, but as of now the plugin stores the password in the DB as is and not encrypted so your password is safe as long as your DB is safe, if you need it encrypted in the DB let me know i’ll make this available in the next release possibly this weekend, and yes username meaning Google Analytics username mostly email.

      Great thanks for supporting Josh!

      1). You have an option to remove ‘Total Countries’ in the plugin options page.
      2). Right now canceling data from a country is not possible.
      3). Sorry i didn’t get you when you said ‘Administration logings keep altering real results’, did you mean you have enabled admin logging too in the analytics plugin? if so please disable admin logging in whatever plugin you are using :)

      you are welcome!

          You must be using some “Google Analytics” Plugin where in its options must be set to log even admin/backend activities you can disable admin logging in that Plugin’s settings page. If you would like to have a feature where you don’t need to depend on some other plugin for Google Analytics code in the front end page i will add it Josh, such that when logged in your activities are not logged

    I cannot get any thing to show, there’s nothing displayed in the preview. I just upgraded to WP 2.9 via the automatic update. I ented my username/password and profile ID that I got from registering with Google. In my status screen it just shows zero for everything. Can you please help.

      Hi Chris! yep im here to help!

      lets do it “again” from the beginning.
      1). Make sure your Php version is 5
      2). Please fill the Username field with the email address you use to login to your Google Analytics.
      3). Please fill password correct too again.
      4). check for your Profile ID the way explained in http://peplamb.com/google-analytics-visits/ (How to use it works/Installation)
      5). just in case to debug the problem disable the Cache.
      after doing these again if it still doen’t work please let me know.

      Also I need to know the following
      1). Was the plugin “Google Analytics Visits” working before upgrading your wordpress to WP 2.9? did it work on any other versions of WP (if you tried the plugin before) and you mean its not working in WP 2.9?
      2). Or did you try the plugin for the first time and the very beginning it didn’t work in WP 2.9?

      Please let me know Chris

    Hi, great plugin, thank you!

    I’m currently running version 1.1.3.4 with WP 2.9.1 and I’d like to point out a few small problems I have found, if you don’t mind:

    - I have accidentally misspelled the Profile ID on the options page so I was getting the message ”Google Analytics Visits Error: please enter your account details in the options page”, which to me it sounded like an authentication problem, so it took me a few retries before noticing the profile ID. I confess I have no idea what the Analytics API allows you to do, but if at all possible, having a different error message for each field would be more helpful;

    - If Display Visits option is set to Yes, the output is something like ”Romania 827 (92)”. Now I understand that the second number is the percentage, but I don’t believe my visitors would get that without the % sign.

    - In comment #62 you say ”You have an option to remove ‘Total Countries’ in the plugin options page.” I’m sorry but I have no such option (and I’ve used find on the page, so I’m pretty sure :-) )

    Hope this helps. Good work, thank you.

      Hi Pablo, glad you like the plugin :)
      the number in the brackets is the percentage of visits/pageviews, right now there is no option to turn that down when you select,
      “Display Visits?” as Yes
      and
      “Display Pageviews?” as Yes
      i’ll give the option to turn that off in the next release!

    I haven’t understood how installation of the plugin works.

    -> I’ve installed it and create a Googles analytics account.
    It gives 0 visit and google anlytics account says that the google anlytics code has been put on welcome page and that I have to put this code on all pages !!!!
    -> what is the figure of max results ? max days ? max last pages viewed ? visits ? countries ?

    I thought this was an easy way to stat WP, but I am feeling that I better user webanalyser; this lack of information is not an encouragement to use this plugin.

            Let me let you know that this plugin is not broken at all and it will help me if you give me clear details on the problem and the errors you get when you use this plugin, say for example whats the error you find when using this plugin etc lets take some time together to examine this ok?

            say for example lets take time a day where you and i can work on the issue you have with your installation and your username and password fine?

            this should be the only solution since others aren’t facing the same problem but just you so we can together troubleshoot this problem to get to some fix

            Thank you for reporting we will work together on this!

    Hi!

    I have problem getting my Google analytics to work. It just says:
    Google Analytics Vists Alert: please check/recheck/enter your Google Analytics account details (username and password).

    so I wander if the username and password is the same as I have in google? for my gmail for example? if its correct, than what is my profile ID?

    Best,
    Eva

      Hi Eva,

      Yep you are right! your username is your google email address ex: @gmail.com">your...@gmail.com and then the password of your google mail.

      Please Note though dot in a username isn’t supported so say for example your username is @gmail.com">firs...@gmail.com this will not let you authenticate to your google Analytics account.

      You will find help with your profile id of the specific website you want stats for in point 6 of my post above with details screenshots
      Hope this helps you Eva, let me know if you still find any problem I’m here to help :)

    Very nice plug-in, but it interferes with the WordPress flash and browser image uploaders. They just hang, and I have to close the browser. To upload an image, I have to temporarily deactivate the plug-in. Not a big deal now that I know about it.

      Hi George,
      Glad you like the plugin :)
      I’ll release a new version of this plugin in a moment (version 1.1.3.8) and I’d like you to test if this issue you mentioned is fixed.
      Thanks for reporting it helps making the plugin better :)

    I have a three suggestions;

    -Storage password to the DB using MD5 Encryption, only for security purposes.
    -On the options dashboard, can you add a little sign (green/red) depending on connection stablished, it would be very useful to know if it is the password or ID are correctly written.
    -Are you thinking to support multilanguage? If you do, I’m applying to translate a pair of languages (spanish and catalan), my “Poedit” is ready to work ;P

    Nice tool! Thanks for your work ;)

    • PepLamb
      Posted May 1, 2010 at 5:29 pm | Permalink

      Sure i’ll look into these suggestions in the next release :)
      1). yep i thought on the password security in the DB but the problem is it needs to get back to its original state form MD5 Encryption before it calls the Google API, so will need an MD5 decryption code.
      2). not sure what you meant in your second point :P
      3). i’ll need your help with the languages then :D
      glad you liked the plugin!

        Posted May 2, 2010 at 4:04 pm | Permalink

        The first one, as I know you can not use literally MD5, CRC32 or SHA1 because all are made for only to encrypt (one way), then they are methods not reversibles. But maybe you can use the STR_ROT13, it is the only I know that accept reversible, you can combine this method with split of password into two different strings … or something more. I’m very sorry I can not provide a example for this right now, I will have to search and I will post here.

        Well regarding to the 2nd point, a picture is worth a thousand words.
        http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/9019/googleanalyticsvisits.jpg
        It would be only to know if the password or ID are correct.

          Hey hi again Neoshinji!
          Point 1 sure its good if the password is protected in the DB i understand i will look for some good encryption method(s)
          Point 2 it would be good to have that kind of feature, i do have the reporting section below in the plugin preview if there are authentication errors or Profile ID error, red/green thing makes sense
          hope i’ll have them in 1.1.4.1 or 1.1.4.2 release
          thanks for the cool ideas Neoshinji :)

        Google Analytics Visits Error: please enter your account details in the options page.

        User and pass are only normal characters.
        Is possible this plugin is broken??

          (this after i changed the ua code to check if it was validating google page)
          Now the ua code is correct but it seems can’t get.. I don’t see where could be the error.
          I’ve got the plugin analytics dashboard and it works fine… (curl enabled)

    • PepLamb
      Posted June 16, 2010 at 3:39 pm | Permalink

      No the password will not be visible once the password is saved and you will have a notification saying “Password is protected or re-enter password to change!” meaning the password is already saved and protected ( so not visible ) and if you think of changing the password you can do it :)
      Make sure you don’t have special characters in the password, a-z A-Z 0-9 are fine as password characters.
      Hope this helps :)

  34. Arturo
    Posted June 19, 2010 at 7:11 pm | Permalink

    the plugin don’t work for me. This is the third message i write down i hope it doesn’t get deleted again.
    The plugin do not validate me in google analitics. My WordPress is now 3.0
    I get :
    Google Analytics Vists Alert: please check/recheck/enter your Google Analytics Profile ID.

    I’ve checked in the database and the user and pass is correct. Also the UA code (if the UA format is :UA-XXXXX-X and not any other format) so i guess so i can’t see where is the error.
    Peraps the plugin is broken? Could you manage the validation in the same way as Google analycator (it takes you to the google page to validation).
    Also other plugins (like google analytics dashboard) works fine. So i guess if i missing something in my server configuration i can’t see it.

      hi Terri,
      Please answer me these questions :)
      1). Are you using proxy to connect to the internet? Google don’t like that!
      2). I saw the email used isn’t the gmail email and username ‘admin’. Are you trying to connect with the your wordpress credentials? If yes please don’t do that use your gmail :)
      hope this helps if you still face any problem let me know :)
      GOD bless!

        2). you must enter your gmail username and password in the username and password fields for this plugin to work.

        Yeah would be nice as an optional feature from preferences page, also, may you tell me how to reduce the fontsize? my widget colum is 400px and with flag+country name + pageview the space is not enough to display all, i shall reduce a little bit

    I have double/trip[led checked my details, which include my username (which I assume is my email address as this is how I sign-in, I have changed my password to see if that works – no it doesnt, any ideas? There’s a coffee in it for you if you can help!

      Hi, you have classes defined in the html code all you need to define your CSS to fill the colors you need. if you need a CSS text box right in the plugin i can make it a new feature in it :)

        Yes need, because some country name is too long and if, like me, have the column narrow, the number of the visit is pushed out invisible, would be nice to have options in the setting page to change the text colour, font and size, or a character limitation for country name

    Hi there, Good job on this plugin!

    I would like to translate into Spanish (or just change) the titles that show on the front-end’s widget:

    Total Countries: 4
    Total Visits: 212
    Total Pageviews: 2503

    I tried to edit google-analytics-visits.php and found the place where those literals are, but once I changed them, nothing happened on the Front. Also tried to reboot the plugin but that did not help either.

    Any ideas??

Unfortunately I’ve now got a bigger problem as when i log into wordpress i can’t use it (so can’t access the ‘google analytics visits’ maintenance page to change the password). I get a fatal error message in wordpress that refers to the google analytics visits app having an error on line xxx (i don’t have access to wordpress from computer I’m using at the moment unfortunately so can’t put in the actual error message).

          ok this is the solution for the new problem you have
          1). Just rename the plugin folder [google-analytics-visits to google-analytics-visits-2] or delete it
          2). Then install the latest version of my plugin

    The reason I’m bothering you concerns the color of the text displayed. I did read through all the comments, but didn’t find the instructions to alter the font color. Please, would you help me out and tell how how exactly I can alter the font color?
    It’s really a shame to have such an awesome plugin featured on my sidebar of the text is almost impossible to read due to a too light color.

      Hey Leo,
      Glad you like the plugin :)

      I knew someone would ask for this feature so i already have it in the plugin ( right now you have no way to add it to the settings yet may be in the next release ) but you can add the following CSS to you style.css or where ever needed,

      <style type="text/css">
      .GoogleAnalyticsVisits_table {
      color: red;
      }
      </style>

      Hope this will fix :)

        Hey PepLamb!

        Yeah, if the font color is fixed, chances are people will wanna be able to edit it, what with all the different themes and background colors and all… :)

        Thank you, it did fix it, without the style tags though, just pasting in the style.css file this bit:

        .GoogleAnalyticsVisits_table { color: darkgreen; }

        Instead of darkgreen it could be red, or whatever other color. But it works awesome, so thank you very much for the prompt answer!

        Ok, turned back to work but the reason was another.
        I recently added another user to my google analytics profile and defined it as “admin”, the previous one still present and with same data but de-classed to “only view reports” this broken the plugin.
        Maybe is enough add a line or a check box to be sure people use the “admin” login data to sync ur plugin.
        Another wish, can this plugin show the number/percentage aligned left and cut with … the country name if too long respect the widget width?

      hey Alejandro,
      neither UA-25096214 nor UA-25096214-1 are your Profile IDs, make sure you go to your google analytics, select your account there, look at the list of profiles there, then edit the profile you need and you will find the Profile ID on top-left
      please read carefully and follow the instructions step by step and you will find it :)

      please make sure you entered your username and password correctly if you look at the error it does say “Failed to authenticate user” :)
      if you entered the username and password already first test it with your account on google or gmail if it works great take the same and fill in the form again,
      i hope this helps :)

      Hey Juliana,
      This is the error,
      Error: “User does not have permission to access profile 17876310
      It clearly says that you have no access to the profile 17876310,
      This is what you should do now, please follow these steps one by one,
      1). Login to your account using your credentials and find your profile id again.
      2). make sure you re-enter your credentials in the plugin again and also re-enter the profile id you found in step 1
      check if these steps work and let me know :)

    Hello,
    In IE9 with googles analytics visits 1.1.4.9.7 and the theme Modularity Lite the list of the country appear one good one on white case.
    Do you the reason?
    Thanks

    • PepLamb
      Posted October 15, 2011 at 10:38 pm | Permalink

      in this file /wp-content/themes/modularity-lite/library/styles/screen.css
      you have following CSS

      tbody tr:nth-child(2n) td, tbody tr.even td {
      background-attachment: scroll;
      background-clip: border-box;
      background-color: #E5ECF9;
      background-image: none;
      background-origin: padding-box;
      background-position: 0 0;
      background-repeat: repeat;
      background-size: auto auto;
      }

      do this, comment background-color: #E5ECF9;
      so your CSS should look like the following,

      tbody tr:nth-child(2n) td, tbody tr.even td {
      background-attachment: scroll;
      background-clip: border-box;
      /*background-color: #E5ECF9;*/
      background-image: none;
      background-origin: padding-box;
      background-position: 0 0;
      background-repeat: repeat;
      background-size: auto auto;
      }

      hope this helps :)

      Hello Hannah,

      1. could you re-login to your Google analytics account with your username/password and check for your Profile ID ( profile id is all number its not alphanumeric )
      2. once you have your profile id could you get back to the options page and re-enter the same username, password you logged in with in Step 1 ( I know you passed step 1 even as right now already but this is just an extra re-checking authentication problems ), also the profile id you found in your Google analytics account.

      please let me know if this works
      i like your website GOD bless :)

    Hello,
    I just loaded your Google Analytics Visits v1.1.4.9.7 plugin. I like it very much except that the values display in the actual sidebar with spaces within the values.

    They appear fine in the Setting Preview “[country flag] United States 6″ but in the page sidebar they appear “[country flag]United States6″. Is there a simple fix to the CSS to fix it?

    Thank you,
    Joe

    Hello,
    I would like to use your plugin on my site but have the following issue when I installed it. There are no spaces between the country flag, country name, and count when displayed in the sidebar. They appear fine in the preview when setting the options.

    When looking at the code I can see that the “text align=right” but is not displaying correctly. Is there a quick fix you can give me?

    Thanks,
    Joe

    PS: This is my second request.

    I am confused with the required username, password and profile ID. Are this the ones I already use for my server or website?

    • PepLamb
      Posted February 6, 2012 at 1:50 am | Permalink

      Good question Elias :)
      Its your Google Analytics username and password and the Profile ID is the Profile ID of the profile you want to display!
      I will make changes to the plugin to avoid this confusion once and for all renaming ‘Username’ to ‘Google Analytics Username (or email)’ and Password to ‘Google Analytics Password’ :)
      Thanks for raising this up!
      PS: Elias are you using the new interface/GUI of Google Analytics or the old interface/GUI?
