  3. Tried your plugin & widget and nothing happens… Literally, there’s nothing displayed in the preview, or the sidebar widget. It is currently active on the site, no title and should be displayed at the bottom. But nothing.

    1. hi Seventh Town,
      will you let me know your WP Version and the Php version?
      also which version of “Google Analytics Visits” are you using?
      do let me know!

  4. Hi,

    I actually was thinking about doing setting this up, but then I noticed you comments. I like the layout. What comments plugin do you use?

    Thanks,

    Alex

  5. i just wish to let u know this plugin do crash the sharing plugin such as addthis, addtoany sharing to facebook….
    all the links share to facebook will missing the image…

    please update… i really love this plugin but it crash with the sharing function for image….

    1. Hi Cyber,
      glad you like our plugin!
      can you list the plugins that crashed so we can test them?
      it works fine here with Sociable plugin

    1. yes its safe to input the password since the gapi uses https for authentication, but as of now the plugin stores the password in the DB as is and not encrypted so your password is safe as long as your DB is safe, if you need it encrypted in the DB let me know i’ll make this available in the next release possibly this weekend, and yes username meaning Google Analytics username mostly email.

  6. Google Analytics Visits Error: please enter your account details in the options page.

    1. hi Jim,
      please make sure you gave correct username ( Google Analytics username mostly email ) and password, this will fix the problem!

  7. Wow, it’s the first plugin that I will support by donations… promise!

    I just have 2 problems:

    – How can I remove the result: ‘Total Countries’ (tried to remove but keeps giving me errors)

    – How can I cancel data from a country? Administration logings keep altering real results

    Thanks

    1. Great thanks for supporting Josh!

      1). You have an option to remove ‘Total Countries’ in the plugin options page.
      2). Right now canceling data from a country is not possible.
      3). Sorry i didn’t get you when you said ‘Administration logings keep altering real results’, did you mean you have enabled admin logging too in the analytics plugin? if so please disable admin logging in whatever plugin you are using :)

      you are welcome!

        1. You must be using some “Google Analytics” Plugin where in its options must be set to log even admin/backend activities you can disable admin logging in that Plugin’s settings page. If you would like to have a feature where you don’t need to depend on some other plugin for Google Analytics code in the front end page i will add it Josh, such that when logged in your activities are not logged

  8. I cannot get any thing to show, there’s nothing displayed in the preview. I just upgraded to WP 2.9 via the automatic update. I ented my username/password and profile ID that I got from registering with Google. In my status screen it just shows zero for everything. Can you please help.

    1. Hi Chris! yep im here to help!

      lets do it “again” from the beginning.
      1). Make sure your Php version is 5
      2). Please fill the Username field with the email address you use to login to your Google Analytics.
      3). Please fill password correct too again.
      4). check for your Profile ID the way explained in http://peplamb.com/google-analytics-visits/ (How to use it works/Installation)
      5). just in case to debug the problem disable the Cache.
      after doing these again if it still doen’t work please let me know.

      Also I need to know the following
      1). Was the plugin “Google Analytics Visits” working before upgrading your wordpress to WP 2.9? did it work on any other versions of WP (if you tried the plugin before) and you mean its not working in WP 2.9?
      2). Or did you try the plugin for the first time and the very beginning it didn’t work in WP 2.9?

      Please let me know Chris

  9. Hi, great plugin, thank you!

    I’m currently running version 1.1.3.4 with WP 2.9.1 and I’d like to point out a few small problems I have found, if you don’t mind:

    – I have accidentally misspelled the Profile ID on the options page so I was getting the message ”Google Analytics Visits Error: please enter your account details in the options page”, which to me it sounded like an authentication problem, so it took me a few retries before noticing the profile ID. I confess I have no idea what the Analytics API allows you to do, but if at all possible, having a different error message for each field would be more helpful;

    – If Display Visits option is set to Yes, the output is something like ”Romania 827 (92)”. Now I understand that the second number is the percentage, but I don’t believe my visitors would get that without the % sign.

    – In comment #62 you say ”You have an option to remove ‘Total Countries’ in the plugin options page.” I’m sorry but I have no such option (and I’ve used find on the page, so I’m pretty sure :-) )

    Hope this helps. Good work, thank you.

        1. Great, didn’t expect to find you up so late so I was preparing myself for a few hours in the moderation queue :-)

          Thanks, looking forward to the next version!

          1. hey all done except localization/internationalization that will be a bit more work will think of it, but again thats a good idea :)

  10. Thank you, that was really fast!

    Updated through WP’s automated mechanism, everything went smoothly and new version is working as expected.

    Cheers!

    1. Hi friend, I’m here to help!
      what’s the error message you see in the preview? can you let me know?
      Please follow “Installation” section (you have the help with screenshots :)) but before that make sure you pass the “Requirements” section.
      if you still face any problem please let me know and i will be glad to fix this problem for you :)
      and thanks a lot for the donation :)

  12. Easy Question….

    Where is this?…………….

    Go to the options page (Settings->Google Analytics Visits) enter the settings of your Analytics Account, username/password, enter the Profile ID of your website (get Profile ID from Analytics Home Page -> Actions -> Edit (Edit Profile) )
    How do I get there?
    Thanks

    Rick

    1. Hi Rick, I updated Installation section with a new screenshot in there for (Settings->Google Analytics Visits), once you get to “Settings->Google Analytics Visits” you you’ll find all the options there, hope this helps :)

  13. Dear Pep, thank you for your great plugin. I want to know what is the number in brackets near the number of visits, and if there is a way to turn that number off… I like to keep things really simple.

    1. Hi Pablo, glad you like the plugin :)
      the number in the brackets is the percentage of visits/pageviews, right now there is no option to turn that down when you select,
      “Display Visits?” as Yes
      and
      “Display Pageviews?” as Yes
      i’ll give the option to turn that off in the next release!
      thanks for your comment!

  14. Great Plugin!!
    Just one question: Is it possible to define the number of days you want the analytics visits for? E.g. last 30 days Now your plugin takes all visits.
    Thanks for your support!

      1. Do you already know when this option will be available? It would make a lot of sense to include this option.
        Many thanks!

        1. hey hi again Edgar,
          and oops i missed your request completely, thanks for reminding me again Edgar, i’ll need an other hmmm say a week or 2 to get this done fine? been busy the past few days, anyway you’ll have your request ready in 1 or 2 weeks :)
          Many thinks too for using my plugin!

        2. hey Edgar,
          The option is available now also you can have a custom header too just in case an other tiny feature :)
          anyway hope you like it!

          1. GREAT!! Thanks for adding this feature to the plugin!! Works perfect!
            Many thanks!!
            Edgar

  15. @PepLamb
    if “Username” have dot (see my e-mail):

    Preview
    Google Analytics Vists Alert: please check/recheck/enter your Google Analytics account details (username and password).

    if my Username without dot -work
    thanks

  16. and:

    Display: Display Flags Country Names Both.

    may be add “no”
    IMO in footer enough info about total visit per month and total Pageviews per month

  17. I haven’t understood how installation of the plugin works.

    -> I’ve installed it and create a Googles analytics account.
    It gives 0 visit and google anlytics account says that the google anlytics code has been put on welcome page and that I have to put this code on all pages !!!!
    -> what is the figure of max results ? max days ? max last pages viewed ? visits ? countries ?

    I thought this was an easy way to stat WP, but I am feeling that I better user webanalyser; this lack of information is not an encouragement to use this plugin.

    Michel

  18. I tried hundred times, username, password and ID, all are correct, but I´m havinf this message:

    Google Analytics Vists Alert: please check/recheck/enter your Google Analytics account details (username and password).

    What could be the problem ?

    Thank you,

    Lucas

  19. I can’t get it to work. It says ”
    Preview
    Google Analytics Vists Alert: please check/recheck/enter your Google Analytics Profile ID” But my Profile ID is correct. I do have to sites under my ID so this one ends with -1. Is that a problem?

    1. Hi Lucas,
      Sorry for the late reply i have been busy the last week, let me ask you few questions.
      1). Is your username, a google username ( a google email address )
      2). Does your username have a “.” ( dot ) without quotes? if so this is not going to work. the API doesn’t support the dot right now, google needs to look into their API structure.
      do let me know I’m here to help you out ok?

      1. Thank you PepLamb,

        1) Yes my username is a google username,
        2) No my username does not have a “.”

        Thank you to help-me !

        1. Just to inform you, I updated to last version, 1.1.3.6, and doens´t work yet, the problem was not solved.

          I have the google analycator plugin installed too, there are some plugin conflict with it ?

          Thank you for support.

          1. Hi Lucas,

            Let me let you know that this plugin is not broken at all and it will help me if you give me clear details on the problem and the errors you get when you use this plugin, say for example whats the error you find when using this plugin etc lets take some time together to examine this ok?

            say for example lets take time a day where you and i can work on the issue you have with your installation and your username and password fine?

            this should be the only solution since others aren’t facing the same problem but just you so we can together troubleshoot this problem to get to some fix

            Thank you for reporting we will work together on this!

  20. Hi!

    I have problem getting my Google analytics to work. It just says:
    Google Analytics Vists Alert: please check/recheck/enter your Google Analytics account details (username and password).

    so I wander if the username and password is the same as I have in google? for my gmail for example? if its correct, than what is my profile ID?

    Best,
    Eva

    1. Hi Eva,

      Yep you are right! your username is your google email address ex: yourusername@gmail.com and then the password of your google mail.

      Please Note though dot in a username isn’t supported so say for example your username is firstname.lastname@gmail.com this will not let you authenticate to your google Analytics account.

      You will find help with your profile id of the specific website you want stats for in point 6 of my post above with details screenshots
      Hope this helps you Eva, let me know if you still find any problem I’m here to help :)

  21. Very nice plug-in, but it interferes with the WordPress flash and browser image uploaders. They just hang, and I have to close the browser. To upload an image, I have to temporarily deactivate the plug-in. Not a big deal now that I know about it.

    1. Hi George,
      Glad you like the plugin :)
      I’ll release a new version of this plugin in a moment (version 1.1.3.8) and I’d like you to test if this issue you mentioned is fixed.
      Thanks for reporting it helps making the plugin better :)

  22. I have a three suggestions;

    -Storage password to the DB using MD5 Encryption, only for security purposes.
    -On the options dashboard, can you add a little sign (green/red) depending on connection stablished, it would be very useful to know if it is the password or ID are correctly written.
    -Are you thinking to support multilanguage? If you do, I’m applying to translate a pair of languages (spanish and catalan), my “Poedit” is ready to work ;P

    Nice tool! Thanks for your work ;)

    1. Sure i’ll look into these suggestions in the next release :)
      1). yep i thought on the password security in the DB but the problem is it needs to get back to its original state form MD5 Encryption before it calls the Google API, so will need an MD5 decryption code.
      2). not sure what you meant in your second point :P
      3). i’ll need your help with the languages then :D
      glad you liked the plugin!

      1. The first one, as I know you can not use literally MD5, CRC32 or SHA1 because all are made for only to encrypt (one way), then they are methods not reversibles. But maybe you can use the STR_ROT13, it is the only I know that accept reversible, you can combine this method with split of password into two different strings … or something more. I’m very sorry I can not provide a example for this right now, I will have to search and I will post here.

        Well regarding to the 2nd point, a picture is worth a thousand words.
        http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/9019/googleanalyticsvisits.jpg
        It would be only to know if the password or ID are correct.

        1. Hey hi again Neoshinji!
          Point 1 sure its good if the password is protected in the DB i understand i will look for some good encryption method(s)
          Point 2 it would be good to have that kind of feature, i do have the reporting section below in the plugin preview if there are authentication errors or Profile ID error, red/green thing makes sense
          hope i’ll have them in 1.1.4.1 or 1.1.4.2 release
          thanks for the cool ideas Neoshinji :)

    1. Hi Yarlung!
      Make sure you entered the right “Profile ID”, the one you entered is not a “Profile ID” but “Google Analytics’ UID” so please put the right “Profile ID” to make the plugin work smoothly :)

  24. I can’t seem to get this to work…when i go to show enter my profile and password it only shows the profile ID.

    1. hmmmm what do you see in the preview section? do you see any erry? your password is hidden and you can change it any time the plugin is made that way so you won’t see the password make sure you entered the right profile id, username your gmail and the password with no special characters in it. let me know if this helps if not then lets get in touch and we shoot this problem :)

  25. Hi, I’ve a problem. Under the password form appear this label:
    Password is protected or re-enter password to change!

    And at the bottom of the page:
    Google Analytics Visits Error: please enter your account details in the options page.

    I enter my account details, but nothing changed…

    1. oh hmmm please make note that your password must not contain any special characters
      also make sure your username which is your gmail must not contain a “.” (dot) say for example some.thing@gmail.com is not valid since it contains a dot character hope this solves the problem
      let me know if you still face any problem, im here to help

      1. I had exactly the same problem. It look like the plugin does not save the password. I write it down but nothing happend. Only when i click save the pass desapear and i got the same message at the bottom:
        Google Analytics Visits Error: please enter your account details in the options page.

        User and pass are only normal characters.
        Is possible this plugin is broken??
        I’m ussing WPMU 2.9.2

        1. Also i’ve in the DB that the fields are correct.. Now i get error:
          Google Analytics Vists Alert: please check/recheck/enter your Google Analytics Profile ID.
          (this after i changed the ua code to check if it was validating google page)
          Now the ua code is correct but it seems can’t get.. I don’t see where could be the error.
          I’ve got the plugin analytics dashboard and it works fine… (curl enabled)

        2. Hi This plugin isn’t designed for WPMU at all so please do not use it for that it only supports WP and till WP 3.0 and works perfectly with it
          Let me know if you have any more Questions Thanks :)

  26. pls i need a detailed explanation on how to get the profile id.i understand everythin but i find it difficult to locate the profile id.

    1. Hey forgive me for the late reply been busy with some stuff over the weekend
      you got the profile ID just as mentioned in the screenshot,
      drop back here again one more time and go through the detailed explanation on the Installation and you’ll find it :)

  27. Hey,

    Mine isnt working also…please help! Is the password supposed to stay in the field once it is saved?

    1. No the password will not be visible once the password is saved and you will have a notification saying “Password is protected or re-enter password to change!” meaning the password is already saved and protected ( so not visible ) and if you think of changing the password you can do it :)
      Make sure you don’t have special characters in the password, a-z A-Z 0-9 are fine as password characters.
      Hope this helps :)

      1. It wasn’t working but I changed the settings and now it shows total visits as “0” but I googled my page and had others go on my site and it is still “0”. Does it take a while to it to reflect on how many people visit?

  28. the plugin don’t work for me. This is the third message i write down i hope it doesn’t get deleted again.
    The plugin do not validate me in google analitics. My WordPress is now 3.0
    I get :
    Google Analytics Vists Alert: please check/recheck/enter your Google Analytics Profile ID.

    I’ve checked in the database and the user and pass is correct. Also the UA code (if the UA format is :UA-XXXXX-X and not any other format) so i guess so i can’t see where is the error.
    Peraps the plugin is broken? Could you manage the validation in the same way as Google analycator (it takes you to the google page to validation).
    Also other plugins (like google analytics dashboard) works fine. So i guess if i missing something in my server configuration i can’t see it.

    1. Nope the plugin is not broken at all :)
      Just that it doesn’t support WPMU,
      Works fine for me from WP 2.8 to WP 3.0 :)

  29. I cant this Plugin install….

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘{‘ in /home/www/webxxxxx/html/hauli.ch/wp-content/plugins/google-analytics-visits/google-analytics-visits.php on line 224

    any one a idea?

    1. please reinstall the plugin im sure you haven’t installed it well or may be the automatic upgrade didn’t work, re-installing the plugin will fix this

    1. Hi Deena
      You gatta install the tracker code or use plugins to do the job and if you require me to have that feature too in the plugin itself i will do it for you Deena :)
      Pep

      I guess your username has dot the api designed doesn’t work if the username has a dot in it :|
      Pep

  31. Hi, the plugin is great, works just fine, but I have got a problem.

    In the installation howto you write, that I can put the counter using widgets menu, but I have created my sidebar by editing the code. What code should I put to my sidebar.php to view the counter.

    thanks

    1. hey Marek,
      You just have to drag and drop this widget to the Sidebar from your Admin -> Appearance -> Widgets -> Your Sidebar. Thats it, you don’t have to put any code manually all is automated this way, let me know if you still have any issues im here to help you :)
      Pep

      1. thanks, I know it’s automated, but is there any posiblitiy to add somtehing like I don’t know and it would do just the same as dragging a widget?

        1. sorry I ment:

    Whats does this error mean?

    Thanks

    1. hi Terri,
      Please answer me these questions :)
      1). Are you using proxy to connect to the internet? Google don’t like that!
      2). I saw the email used isn’t the gmail email and username ‘admin’. Are you trying to connect with the your wordpress credentials? If yes please don’t do that use your gmail :)
      hope this helps if you still face any problem let me know :)
      GOD bless!

      1. Also please Make sure,
        1). UA-xxxxxxx-xx is not the Profile ID, read the instructions on top to find your profile id for that domain. if you need help finding it out i am hear to help.
        2). you must enter your gmail username and password in the username and password fields for this plugin to work.

  35. Great plugin!

    1. How can I localize the text (i.e “total visits” to my language)?
    2. I don’t want to display the flag or the country text how can I NOT display both, there is no such option…

    Thanks again

    1. Hi Niv,

      1. I got the first point i will come up with the localization soon
      2. Im not sure what you are talking about Niv Let me know again,

      Thanks :)

      1. Yeah would be nice as an optional feature from preferences page, also, may you tell me how to reduce the fontsize? my widget colum is 400px and with flag+country name + pageview the space is not enough to display all, i shall reduce a little bit
        thanks!

  36. I have installed your plugin but when I try to activate it I get:
    Google Analytics Vists Alert: please check/recheck/enter your Google Analytics account details (username and password).

    I have double/trip[led checked my details, which include my username (which I assume is my email address as this is how I sign-in, I have changed my password to see if that works – no it doesnt, any ideas? There’s a coffee in it for you if you can help!

    Cheers

  37. I installed your plugin on my blog “www.lerbc.fr” but it is unreadable because the text is too light. How can I change color?
    Thanks for the help and thanks for your plugin.

    1. Hi, you have classes defined in the html code all you need to define your CSS to fill the colors you need. if you need a CSS text box right in the plugin i can make it a new feature in it :)

      1. Yes need, because some country name is too long and if, like me, have the column narrow, the number of the visit is pushed out invisible, would be nice to have options in the setting page to change the text colour, font and size, or a character limitation for country name
        thanks

  38. Thanks for your reply. If I understand, it’s a CSS problem on my theme (skin). I will search in the code …
    Thanks again for your job.

  39. Hi there, Good job on this plugin!

    I would like to translate into Spanish (or just change) the titles that show on the front-end’s widget:

    Total Countries: 4
    Total Visits: 212
    Total Pageviews: 2503

    I tried to edit google-analytics-visits.php and found the place where those literals are, but once I changed them, nothing happened on the Front. Also tried to reboot the plugin but that did not help either.

    Any ideas??

    Thanks in advance!

  40. DONE!
    I switched the “Display Powered By?” to ON. I guess that recalled the code below and re-painted the table perfectly.

    Thanks though!

  41. Hey, nice plugin you have there. Unfortunately when I tried to use it on mine, got an:
    Object id #239

    Error. Please kindly help me.

    Thanks.

  42. Trying to figure out how to post the code for Google analytics. Been to the my Google account and have received the correct UA number info, go the code to insert missing a step when going into the Word Press Dash Board area. The instructions seems easy coming from someone that knows HTML.

  43. Great plugin, but if I only display pageviews as a %age, the list is not sorted by this value. How do you control what list is sorted by?

    Thanks

  44. Im trying to get the plug in to work here but its coming up with

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘{‘ in ………/html/blog/wp-content/plugins/google-analytics-visits/google-analytics-visits.php on line 224

    any clues on what i can do?

  45. It is only 4.x , im not sure if i can reliably change my PHP to 5 without major work on a joomla site and an oscommerce site??? I can enable PHP 5.x because its hosting with godaddy

    1. Thanks a lot for informing nivosh, it really helps i fixed it but will need someone to test it im at work and would greatly appreciate if you could take time and test it, thanks a lot again for reporting the issue

  46. I’m receiving this error message and cannot access certain plug-ins alphabetically beyond the name of Google analytics. Here is my message,
    Fatal error: Call to undefined function self_admin_url() in /hermes/bosweb/web213/b2137/ipg.mariasconsultingcom/wp-content/plugins/google-analytics-visits/google-analytics-visits.php on line 1316

    Help? I do not see this plugin or any others beyond it like I said at the beginning when I click the plugin menu. I have Php 5 and use WP 3.0. My plugin says version 1.1.4.9 within the settings area, I have no problem accessing the plug in there.

        1. Dear PepLamb,
          I am continuing to experience this issue while using WordPress 3.0. Please help? The message continues and I can not access any plugins alphabetically beyond yours. Same question as my original one above.

  47. Hey there,

    so just confirming your plugin will not work for me as i have a “.” in my email? Is there a work around this?

    1. Hey Kathryn there should be a work around, haven’t gotten much time to look into it hoping to integrate the plugin with google oauth api which should solve the problem, but i guess it will take time since im kinda busy the next few weeks :|

  48. Hi – the app worked for me for quite a while, but has stopped updating.. this is the debug report.. THANKS

    Debug Report: ( In-case you see this you have some problem kindly used this data to report me or fix things yourself remember im always here to help :) )

    1. Hey Mark,
      1). I suspect you must have changed your password recently please re-enter your password in the password field and that might be the fix
      2). the problem could be if your username contains a dot.
      Please try the first one if the plugin did work for you before,
      Let me know I’m here to help :)

      1. Hi – yes, you’re correct – i did change my password recently, so that makes sense :-) Thanks for that. Unfortunately I’ve now got a bigger problem as when i log into wordpress i can’t use it (so can’t access the ‘google analytics visits’ maintenance page to change the password). I get a fatal error message in wordpress that refers to the google analytics visits app having an error on line xxx (i don’t have access to wordpress from computer I’m using at the moment unfortunately so can’t put in the actual error message).

        1. good that you know of it :)
          I guess you must be using WordPress older than 3.1.0
          ok this is the solution for the new problem you have
          1). Just rename the plugin folder [google-analytics-visits to google-analytics-visits-2] or delete it
          2). Then install the latest version of my plugin
          That should fix the problem :)

          1. THANKS – such a relief :-) I deleted the files and reinstalled the new version and I’m now up and running again! thx

  49. This plugin is great! However, is it possible to turn everything off except the Total Pageviews? Can if possible, I’d much rather paste a bit of code into my website, than have it be a widget since I do not use a sidebar on my site.

  50. Hi,
    Im using your plugin and it’s nice, the only problem is that my sidebar is 200px and with long country name the number of pageview for each country is shifted out on the right and become cut or invisible, I don’t want to change the settings, how can I reduce the font size for the country name? (can u make auto resize as next upgrade?)

  51. Just activated Google Analytics and your plugin and now awaiting google catching up with the data.

    Noticed that I can’t go to the settings page through the plugin page (deactivate / settings / edit) but need to use the Settings – GAvisit menu on the lefthand of the dashboard. The plugin page gives me an ‘Unautohorized to view this page ‘ error. Using WP3.1.3 english.

    Hope this is of some help.

  52. Hi,

    Great plugin!

    One formatting issue: in settings preview the header is properly aligned with the columns (aligned right), but in sidebar, they are placed on the left. How to align properly?

    Morten

    1. hey Morten,

      Thanks for letting me know i noticed on your website will be on it and you will have it fixed on the next release :)

      1. Hi,

        I have now installed your next release, and the headers are still not aligned properly in the widget.

        How to correct?

        Morten

        1. oops i missed on this one, hmmmm please give me a weeks time i will make sure you will have it by next week fine Morten?

  53. Hey!
    I love your plugin, and it works great so far (haven’t yet updated to 3.2 though).
    The reason I’m bothering you concerns the color of the text displayed. I did read through all the comments, but didn’t find the instructions to alter the font color. Please, would you help me out and tell how how exactly I can alter the font color?
    It’s really a shame to have such an awesome plugin featured on my sidebar of the text is almost impossible to read due to a too light color.

    Really appreciate your time and help!

    1. Hey Leo,
      Glad you like the plugin :)

      I knew someone would ask for this feature so i already have it in the plugin ( right now you have no way to add it to the settings yet may be in the next release ) but you can add the following CSS to you style.css or where ever needed,

      <style type="text/css">
      .GoogleAnalyticsVisits_table {
      color: red;
      }
      </style>

      Hope this will fix :)

      1. Hey PepLamb!

        Yeah, if the font color is fixed, chances are people will wanna be able to edit it, what with all the different themes and background colors and all… :)

        Thank you, it did fix it, without the style tags though, just pasting in the style.css file this bit:

        .GoogleAnalyticsVisits_table { color: darkgreen; }

        Instead of darkgreen it could be red, or whatever other color. But it works awesome, so thank you very much for the prompt answer!

        You rOcK!
        xD

  54. hi, after upgrading wordpress here what i got:

    exception ‘Exception’ with message ‘GAPI: Failed to authenticate user. Error: “Error=BadAuthentication
    Info=InvalidSecondFactor
    “‘ in /web/htdocs/www.cookingwithpeachy.com/home/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/google-analytics-visits/gapi.class.php:418
    Stack trace: …

    the user and password are correct, what can cause this?

    thanks

    1. Hi Davide,
      The error does say Bad Authentication please try to login to your google analytics using your username and password see if it is working if it does work then use the same username (gmail including @gmail.com) and password.
      Let me know if it still doesn’t after these steps

      1. Ok, turned back to work but the reason was another.
        I recently added another user to my google analytics profile and defined it as “admin”, the previous one still present and with same data but de-classed to “only view reports” this broken the plugin.
        Maybe is enough add a line or a check box to be sure people use the “admin” login data to sync ur plugin.
        Another wish, can this plugin show the number/percentage aligned left and cut with … the country name if too long respect the widget width?
        thanks alot

        1. hi Davide the alignment for now would stay how it is since your request conflicts with requests made by other user to align to right so hmmmm i might come up with an option so you can choose the alignment in later releases in near future :)

  55. i had installed Google Analytics Visits 1.1.4.8 and it’s has been add through m web site
    even i got checked about Php5 (Excellent: Your server is running PHP version 5.2.17 and MySQL version 5.1.57 which will be great for WordPress 3.2 onward.)

  56. my preview didn’t show the flags and countries. i got this message in preview

    exception ‘Exception’ with message ‘GAPI: Failed to authenticate user. Error: “Error=BadAuthentication
    “‘ in /home/unitrans/public_html/wp-content/plugins/google-analytics-visits/gapi.class.php:418

    what does it mean?? how can i fix it? btw, i use WordPress 3.1, with PHP 5.2.16. thanks

    1. Hey Nee,
      The error does say bad authentication so please make sure you check your username ( which is your google username you use to sign in to your google analytics ) and your password again

  57. Hello!
    I just installed your plugin, but I can’t preview it on my site, because there’s an error:

    Google Analytics Visits Error: please enter your account details in the options page.

    I used my personal gmail account username and password, and I put the ID of letters and numbers that shows on my google analytics account and it didn’t work!

    My username and password are very simple, just letters, I don`t know what is going on wrong….

    Can you help me?

    Thanks!

    Melissa

    1. I think the problem is with my password, because it shows that:

      “Password is protected or re-enter password to change!”

      What can I do?

      1. Melissa, no not the password from my understanding from what you said earlier in your previous comment, please correct your Profile ID, if it were your password if would have displayed Bad Authentication error.

    2. It could be that your Profile ID is wrong Melissa, make sure you find your Profile ID as mentioned in the instructions on finding it on this page above, can you please correct that and get back to me? it doesn’t contains letters but just numbers :)

      neither UA-25096214 nor UA-25096214-1 are your Profile IDs, make sure you go to your google analytics, select your account there, look at the list of profiles there, then edit the profile you need and you will find the Profile ID on top-left
      please read carefully and follow the instructions step by step and you will find it :)

      i hope this helps :)

    1. Hey Juliana,
      This is the error,
      Error: “User does not have permission to access profile 17876310
      It clearly says that you have no access to the profile 17876310,
      This is what you should do now, please follow these steps one by one,
      1). Login to your account using your credentials and find your profile id again.
      2). make sure you re-enter your credentials in the plugin again and also re-enter the profile id you found in step 1
      check if these steps work and let me know :)

  62. Hello,
    In IE9 with googles analytics visits 1.1.4.9.7 and the theme Modularity Lite the list of the country appear one good one on white case.
    Do you the reason?
    Thanks

    1. in this file /wp-content/themes/modularity-lite/library/styles/screen.css
      you have following CSS

      tbody tr:nth-child(2n) td, tbody tr.even td {
      background-attachment: scroll;
      background-clip: border-box;
      background-color: #E5ECF9;
      background-image: none;
      background-origin: padding-box;
      background-position: 0 0;
      background-repeat: repeat;
      background-size: auto auto;
      }

      do this, comment background-color: #E5ECF9;
      so your CSS should look like the following,

      tbody tr:nth-child(2n) td, tbody tr.even td {
      background-attachment: scroll;
      background-clip: border-box;
      /*background-color: #E5ECF9;*/
      background-image: none;
      background-origin: padding-box;
      background-position: 0 0;
      background-repeat: repeat;
      background-size: auto auto;
      }

      hope this helps :)

  63. I fill in all detail including API key, but still I get this message:
    Google Analytics Visits Error: please enter your account details in the options page

    What’s wrong?

    1. Hello Hannah,

      1. could you re-login to your Google analytics account with your username/password and check for your Profile ID ( profile id is all number its not alphanumeric )
      2. once you have your profile id could you get back to the options page and re-enter the same username, password you logged in with in Step 1 ( I know you passed step 1 even as right now already but this is just an extra re-checking authentication problems ), also the profile id you found in your Google analytics account.

      please let me know if this works
      i like your website GOD bless :)

    1. please go through the instructions on plugin home page ( http://peplamb.com/google-analytics-visits/ )
      just to make sure if you are using the new version of google analytics it could be different from the one i mentioned on the plugin home page, haven’t gone through much with the new changes in the Google Analytics user interface…

  64. Hello,
    I just loaded your Google Analytics Visits v1.1.4.9.7 plugin. I like it very much except that the values display in the actual sidebar with spaces within the values.

    They appear fine in the Setting Preview “[country flag] United States 6″ but in the page sidebar they appear “[country flag]United States6″. Is there a simple fix to the CSS to fix it?

    Thank you,
    Joe

  65. Hello,
    I would like to use your plugin on my site but have the following issue when I installed it. There are no spaces between the country flag, country name, and count when displayed in the sidebar. They appear fine in the preview when setting the options.

    When looking at the code I can see that the “text align=right” but is not displaying correctly. Is there a quick fix you can give me?

    Thanks,
    Joe

    PS: This is my second request.

      1. Thank you for looking into this.

        This site is still under development. Your plugin can be seen on the Blog page.

        Thanks again,
        Joe

        1. could you add the following css to your style.css (/wp-content/themes/storefront-elegance-1.4.4/style.css) ?

          .GoogleAnalyticsVisits_table {
              width: 158px;
          }

          1. It worked!!! Was this something I missed during setup?

            Thanks again for your support. Enjoy your cup of coffee!!!

  66. I am confused with the required username, password and profile ID. Are this the ones I already use for my server or website?

    1. Good question Elias :)
      Its your Google Analytics username and password and the Profile ID is the Profile ID of the profile you want to display!
      I will make changes to the plugin to avoid this confusion once and for all renaming ‘Username’ to ‘Google Analytics Username (or email)’ and Password to ‘Google Analytics Password’ :)
      Thanks for raising this up!
      PS: Elias are you using the new interface/GUI of Google Analytics or the old interface/GUI?

  67. A good plugin to showcase my analytics visitor’s countries & details.

    I test it in my local machine XAMPP soft, but it didn’t work for me.
    Does the plugin works in the local developement?

    1. Jame,

      yes it will you should check if the required extensions are enabled,
      could you check your php.ini (\xampp\php\php.ini) if php_openssl.dll and php_curl.dll are enabled?
      if its,
      ;extension=php_curl.dll
      ;extension=php_openssl.dll

      uncomment these extensions (remove ; at the beginning) make it,
      extension=php_curl.dll
      extension=php_openssl.dll

      then restart XAMPP it should work if not let me know

      PS: first just enable php_curl.dll, if it still doesn’t work enable php_openssl.dll ( i am sure php_openssl.dll isn’t needed but just in case)
      if it still doesn’t work let me know and i will test it on my machine

  68. don’t work !!
    my profile ID is: UA-28364770-1

    1. are you using your Google Analytics account?
      if yes, are you inputting your credentials correctly?
      if yes, are you inputting the right profile id?
      can you check these settings and get back to me?
      please don’t be frustrated i’m here to help :)

          2). Were you able to figure out what your profile id is? it doesn’t start with UA-1234567-1 if you have something like this its not the Profile ID
          3). Which version of Google Analytics are you using? is it the latest or old?
          4). if old please find where to find Profile ID at the top.
          5). if not meaning you are using the latest version of Google Analytics Interface, do the following to find your profile ID
          a). Click on admin ( found on right corner of orange bar ) you must be in Google Analytics – Account Administration
          b). Under Accounts tab choose your account

  72. Hey, I am using your Google Analytics Visits. I have a query. Under the list of Countries, I have India on top followed by “not set” in my Google Analytics, hence your plugin is not fetching any information from those countries either. I am pretty sure, Philipines, China, Indonesia, are going under that category whereas in your screenshot I saw your plugin detects those countries.

    How do I get to work that? I desperately need to see all the countries. Roughly about 17% of my visits are from those countries which are not being detected. Why is it so? What can be done?

    1. Hello :)

      Let me tell you the plugin gets the details Google Analytics provide, if Google analytics cannot identify the country the plugin has no control over it, its not that these countries Philippines, China, Indonesia are being missed its just that Google Analytics is not detecting those results.

      Hope this helps

  73. Hello here, I am really in troubles and I don’t understand why.
    Here is what I input in your plugin page:
    http://puu.sh/vWJp

    (I disguised a bit the data, sorry)

    The code, I get it from here:
    http://puu.sh/vWMa

    I beg for a help, I don’t understand why it keeps saying the password is protected. >:

    1. Hey Lucia,

      I see your username is your gmail which is perfect!
      Your password will be hidden for security reasons don’t worry about it unless an until its a wrong password
      Your Profile ID is perfect from what I see in the picture you provided!

      Did you place the widget in the sidebar?
      Do let me know!

      Make sure you enter your password correctly, if you entered it wrong please re-enter your gmail password again one more time!

  76. Hi,

    WP 3.4.1: the flags are not displaying in 1.1.5.7 – I’m reverting back to 1.1.4.9.6 which is working.

    Regards
    Morten

    1. Hello Morten,

      Thanks for bring the issue to my notice :)
      Are you using any caching plugin? if so could you deleted your cache and check again? if not when you upgrade could you please re-save your options?

      Please let me know if this helps!

      1. Hi,

        I just tested 1.1.5.8, and now 99.9% of the flags are showing. For some reason United Kingdom is not showing.

        I’m not using cache software, and I have saved settings after upgrade.

        I also think the appearance of the flags have deteriorated, as the upper edge of the flag has a line, or appear to have elements of anothe flag. Very visible in the flag of Sweden, USA, Denmark, France, Russia, etc.

        BTW: your blog never notifies me of replies, which means it was pure luck I saw your reply as I saw a new version update for the plugin and wanted to check.

        1. That is correct thank you for letting me know :)
          the next release 1.1.5.9 (possibly tomorrow) will have a fix on this issue!

  77. Hi from Portugal,
    First of all, I love this plugin.
    I also upgraded to 1.1.5.8 and the plugin stop displaying the UK flag.
    Even when browsing your website, you may check this. Strangely, in the home page, the uk flag is displayed, but when visiting the other pages (about, blog…) it does not.

    Yes, I did clear my browser´s cache (Safari for Mac).

    I´ve downgraded the plugin to 1.1.5.6 and my website is displaying the uk flag again.

    Thank you.

    best regards
    Tiago

  78. Sorry, just an update.

    Actually, now that I have cleared the cache the uk flag in not displayed in any of your website´s pages, at least in my computer.

    Thanks.

  79. Just an update.

    Now that I have cleared my browser´s cache, the uk flag is not displayed in any of your website´s pages.

    1. Thanks for reporting Tiago this will be fixed in the next release 1.1.5.9 right now i am on the testing process just so everything goes well!

        1. Hi,
          I have just updated to 1.1.5.9 and it seems to be working well.
          Once again, thank you.

  80. Hi,

    Updated to 1.1.5.9, and now UK flag is in place.

    Unfortunately the flags are still displaying colors from other flags in top and left sections.

    For the time being I’m leaving this version on my site, so that you can take a second look.

    Regards
    Morten

  81. Hey,

    I didn’t get any mail notification this time either….. Very strange that the e-mail I have supplied is not used to notify of replies! Hope you can make the notification work again soon, as I don’t want to miss any updates here!

    A very peculiar situation has arised after I have tested on IE, Firefox and Opera in addition to Chrome which is my default browser – I only have this problem in Chrome, and only in Chrome on this particular computer, and downgrading to version 1.1.4.9.6 and it is gone!

    This is how it looks: http://www.ross.no/temp/peplamb060712.jpg

    Regards
    Morten

    1. Hey Morten,

      Thanks for getting back!
      I will look at the notifications issue i will test it with chrome and hopefully get with some solution :)

  82. Searching the right id to enter I found this page and followed the hints.
    Now it works without any problems and is a nice feature on our page.

  88. Hey, I can’t use your WP plug-in because I can’t figure out what the Google Account Username (username/gmail) wants as far as input. Please advise!

  89. Hi,

    I’m now getting this error:

    “Google Analytics Vists Alert: unknown error please contact me at plugin page if you find this error/message.”

    No matter what I do the plugin is now broken.

    PS: have you considered Disqus? It would be much more powerful and easy to use both for us and for you. I would be notified (current solution never notifies me of updates in thread), as well as having a global repository of comments I have made on the web.

    It will take you seconds to import comments to Disqus and set it up :-)

    Thanks,
    Adam

  94. Hye,
    As requested by your error message:

    “Google Analytics Vists Alert: unknown error please contact me at plugin page if you find this error/message.”

    I’m getting in touch with you ;-)

    Can you help?

    P.S: BTW, I think there is a typo in the error message in VisIts

  95. The plugin was working nicely till I changed my server, and since then I found old data was getting shown. So I changed the analytics password and uncheck the cache option to freshen things up, and I’m getting this message:

    Does this mean anything to you ?
    Thanks for making the plugin available.

  96. Else, this is my configuration, for your reference

    WordPress 3.2.1
    PHP Version 5.2.9
    Google Analytics Visits Version 1.1.4.9.6

  97. I got this Error msg.

    “Google Analytics Vists Alert: unknown error please contact me at plugin page if you find this error/message

  98. I receive this message when I save the credentials of my Analytics. Google Analytics Vists Alert: unknown error please contact me at plugin page if you find this error/message.

    Please help.

  99. I love the google analytics visits plugin and used it for a year. It stopped working though, and I wonder what I need to get it to continue working without losing visit. Thank you so much!!

  100. Any ideas on why the plugin stoppped working on my website?! ;-) I found my ID (the right one, I was confused with the UID) but it still doesn’t work.

  101. Hi I installed the plugin and followed the instructions and the following message appeared Google Analytics Vists Alert: please check/recheck/enter your Google Analytics Profile ID.
    What I´m doing wrong.

  102. With the solution I used in my upper post there is still one problem with the total countries count, nothing shown. I just updated to 1.1.6.1

    1. Hey Etienne,

      the total countries disabled for now though the option still exists since there is an issue with the API if there is any change with regards to total countries i will place it in the change log :)

  103. Today I wen through this error and try to sign and activate the 50,000 requests per day but it didn’t help…. Here is the error message:exception ‘Exception’ with message ‘GAPI: Failed to request report data. Error: “usageLimitsuserRateLimitExceededUnregUser Rate Limit Exceeded. Any ideas?

    1. Hello Etienne,

      One of the features included in the plugin is the ‘cache feature’ to allow fewer requests made to ‘Google Analytics’ did you enable cache? if so how many minutes did you set it to?

      1. No, I did not enable the cache. SO maybe this is the problem. I saw on wordpress a beat with a field to enter an API key. I seted up my google account to have a maximum 50000 requests per day. But can I be part of the beta testing add-on?

        1. ok so if i get you right you are asking to be part of beta testing? sure you can are you a programmer? may be you can improve the plugin it if you are.

          Just so you know my plugin doesn’t ask for any API key I guess you must be having “Google Analyticator” plugin which does ask for an API key.

      2. Don’t know how but it’s working again on my website… Any chance to be part of the beat test you suggest on the wordpress forum?

  104. since today this error message appears: exception ‘Exception’ with message ‘GAPI: Failed to request report data. Error: “usageLimitsuserRateLimitExceededUnregUser Rate Limit Exceeded.

    i’ve searched the internet and tried everything, but nothing solves this problem. Please help.

  105. Hey! I love this plugin…it is the ONLY one I have found that can do what I need. I installed this on a client’s site and it shows up great on my PC. However, the widget doesn’t show up at all on my tablet, phone or Mac. Do you know what may be causing this? It was checked on a Galaxy Tab, an iPhone 5, a Galaxy Note 2 and a Macbook Pro.

  106. Great plugin!

    Add this line in your CSS template to customize color and font size:

    .GoogleAnalyticsVisits_table {color:#a8a8a8; font-size:12px;}

  107. It would be super cool if the plugin didn’t show all page views or visits, but only those relevant to the page it is shown on, perhaps with a total counter at the bottom.

    Otherwise awesome work!

    1. Good thought! I will think about it but it might be heavy on calling Google Analytics over and over for each page and Google may not like it what say?

  108. Plug in ottimo, ma ho due problemi: nel mio footer devo cambiare il colore del testo, come posso fare?
    Il contatore mi si è bloccato su 44108 visite, come mai?

    saluti

  109. Sorry, I transalte my comment

    Plug into excellent, but I have two problems: in my footer I have to change the text color, how can I do?
    The counter I crashed about 44 108 visits, why?

    1. 1. If i understand it correctly you are asking if you could change the footer color? you can do it via custom CSS.
      2. Do you mean the plugin is crashing after 44108 visits? It wouldn’t fail!

  110. Hi,

    I love you plugin but could you be so kind and allow to modify the code such that the number of flags can be equal zero? All I mean, now, there is no option for displaying only the total number of visits and a list of flags is compulsory.

    Thank you so much,
    Regards,

    Pawel

  111. Hi,

    I am using your Analytics WordPress plugin (as a widget) to display list of countries that visitors are from. However, I just noticed one unusual thing: no flag is displayed for Brunei! After going through the plugin files, it seems that there is indeed no flag for Brunei. Can this be added in a future version? In the meantime, can you let me know how I remedy this problem, e.g. include a small png/gif with the correct name perhaps?

    Thanks!!

    1. Hi Louis,

      Thanks for letting me know I will review this issue and do the needful in the next release probably in a weeks time :)

  112. Hi,

    I get this after I activated two factor security/login:

    Fatal error: Uncaught exception ‘Exception’ with message ‘GAPI: Failed to authenticate user. Error: “Error=BadAuthentication Info=InvalidSecondFactor “‘ in gapi/gapi.class.php:419 Stack trace: #0

    I have no problem with other Google Analytics plugins like for instance Google Analyticator.

    Regards
    Morten
