Tried your plugin & widget and nothing happens… Literally, there’s nothing displayed in the preview, or the sidebar widget. It is currently active on the site, no title and should be displayed at the bottom. But nothing.

and by username you refer to the email?

    Hey some points need clarification…

    • Posted December 22, 2009 at 1:54 pm | Permalink

yes its safe to input the password since the gapi uses https for authentication, but as of now the plugin stores the password in the DB as is and not encrypted so your password is safe as long as your DB is safe, if you need it encrypted in the DB let me know i’ll make this available in the next release possibly this weekend, and yes username meaning Google Analytics username mostly email.

Wow, it’s the first plugin that I will support by donations… promise!

    I just have 2 problems:

    - How can I remove the result: ‘Total Countries’ (tried to remove but keeps giving me errors)

    - How can I cancel data from a country? Administration logings keep altering real results

    Thanks

    • Posted December 23, 2009 at 10:39 pm | Permalink

      Great thanks for supporting Josh!

1). You have an option to remove ‘Total Countries’ in the plugin options page.
2). Right now canceling data from a country is not possible.
3). Sorry i didn’t get you when you said ‘Administration logings keep altering real results’, did you mean you have enabled admin logging too in the analytics plugin? if so please disable admin logging in whatever plugin you are using :)

      you are welcome!

Yes, my loggings are making raise the percentage of the country I’m now, and I want to avoid that… it’s possible?

        • Posted December 24, 2009 at 4:38 pm | Permalink

You must be using some “Google Analytics” Plugin where in its options must be set to log even admin/backend activities you can disable admin logging in that Plugin’s settings page. If you would like to have a feature where you don’t need to depend on some other plugin for Google Analytics code in the front end page i will add it Josh, such that when logged in your activities are not logged

I cannot get any thing to show, there’s nothing displayed in the preview. I just upgraded to WP 2.9 via the automatic update. I ented my username/password and profile ID that I got from registering with Google. In my status screen it just shows zero for everything. Can you please help.

    • Posted January 3, 2010 at 5:25 pm | Permalink

Hi Chris! yep im here to help!

lets do it “again” from the beginning.
1). Make sure your Php version is 5
2). Please fill the Username field with the email address you use to login to your Google Analytics.
3). Please fill password correct too again.
4). check for your Profile ID the way explained in http://peplamb.com/google-analytics-visits/ (How to use it works/Installation)
5). just in case to debug the problem disable the Cache.
after doing these again if it still doen’t work please let me know.

Also I need to know the following
1). Was the plugin “Google Analytics Visits” working before upgrading your wordpress to WP 2.9? did it work on any other versions of WP (if you tried the plugin before) and you mean its not working in WP 2.9?
2). Or did you try the plugin for the first time and the very beginning it didn’t work in WP 2.9?

      Please let me know Chris

  12. Posted January 5, 2010 at 2:16 am | Permalink

    Hi, great plugin, thank you!

I’m currently running version 1.1.3.4 with WP 2.9.1 and I’d like to point out a few small problems I have found, if you don’t mind:

    - I have accidentally misspelled the Profile ID on the options page so I was getting the message ”Google Analytics Visits Error: please enter your account details in the options page”, which to me it sounded like an authentication problem, so it took me a few retries before noticing the profile ID. I confess I have no idea what the Analytics API allows you to do, but if at all possible, having a different error message for each field would be more helpful;

    - If Display Visits option is set to Yes, the output is something like ”Romania 827 (92)”. Now I understand that the second number is the percentage, but I don’t believe my visitors would get that without the % sign.

    - In comment #62 you say ”You have an option to remove ‘Total Countries’ in the plugin options page.” I’m sorry but I have no such option (and I’ve used find on the page, so I’m pretty sure :-) )

Hope this helps. Good work, thank you.

Go to the options page (Settings->Google Analytics Visits) enter the settings of your Analytics Account, username/password, enter the Profile ID of your website (get Profile ID from Analytics Home Page -> Actions -> Edit (Edit Profile) )
    How do I get there?
    Thanks

Dear Pep, thank you for your great plugin. I want to know what is the number in brackets near the number of visits, and if there is a way to turn that number off… I like to keep things really simple.

    • Posted January 9, 2010 at 11:32 am | Permalink

Hi Pablo, glad you like the plugin :)
the number in the brackets is the percentage of visits/pageviews, right now there is no option to turn that down when you select,
      “Display Visits?” as Yes
      and
      “Display Pageviews?” as Yes
i’ll give the option to turn that off in the next release!
      thanks for your comment!

I haven’t understood how installation of the plugin works.

-> I’ve installed it and create a Googles analytics account.
It gives 0 visit and google anlytics account says that the google anlytics code has been put on welcome page and that I have to put this code on all pages !!!!
-> what is the figure of max results ? max days ? max last pages viewed ? visits ? countries ?

I thought this was an easy way to stat WP, but I am feeling that I better user webanalyser; this lack of information is not an encouragement to use this plugin.

      Hi Lucas,
Sorry for the late reply i have been busy the last week, let me ask you few questions.
1). Is your username, a google username ( a google email address )
2). Does your username have a “.” ( dot ) without quotes? if so this is not going to work. the API doesn’t support the dot right now, google needs to look into their API structure.
do let me know I’m here to help you out ok?

say for example lets take time a day where you and i can work on the issue you have with your installation and your username and password fine?

this should be the only solution since others aren’t facing the same problem but just you so we can together troubleshoot this problem to get to some fix

I have problem getting my Google analytics to work. It just says:
Google Analytics Vists Alert: please check/recheck/enter your Google Analytics account details (username and password).

so I wander if the username and password is the same as I have in google? for my gmail for example? if its correct, than what is my profile ID?

    • Posted April 20, 2010 at 8:10 am | Permalink

      Hi Eva,

Yep you are right! your username is your google email address ex: your@gmail.com and then the password of your google mail.

Please Note though dot in a username isn’t supported so say for example your username is firs@gmail.com this will not let you authenticate to your google Analytics account.

You will find help with your profile id of the specific website you want stats for in point 6 of my post above with details screenshots
Hope this helps you Eva, let me know if you still find any problem I’m here to help :)

Thanks for reporting it helps making the plugin better :)

    I have a three suggestions;

-Storage password to the DB using MD5 Encryption, only for security purposes.
-On the options dashboard, can you add a little sign (green/red) depending on connection stablished, it would be very useful to know if it is the password or ID are correctly written.
-Are you thinking to support multilanguage? If you do, I’m applying to translate a pair of languages (spanish and catalan), my “Poedit” is ready to work ;P

Nice tool! Thanks for your work ;)

    • Posted May 1, 2010 at 5:29 pm | Permalink

Sure i’ll look into these suggestions in the next release :)
1). yep i thought on the password security in the DB but the problem is it needs to get back to its original state form MD5 Encryption before it calls the Google API, so will need an MD5 decryption code.
2). not sure what you meant in your second point :P
3). i’ll need your help with the languages then :D
      glad you liked the plugin!

      • Posted May 2, 2010 at 4:04 pm | Permalink

The first one, as I know you can not use literally MD5, CRC32 or SHA1 because all are made for only to encrypt (one way), then they are methods not reversibles. But maybe you can use the STR_ROT13, it is the only I know that accept reversible, you can combine this method with split of password into two different strings … or something more. I’m very sorry I can not provide a example for this right now, I will have to search and I will post here.

Well regarding to the 2nd point, a picture is worth a thousand words.
        http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/9019/googleanalyticsvisits.jpg
It would be only to know if the password or ID are correct.

          Hey hi again Neoshinji!
Point 1 sure its good if the password is protected in the DB i understand i will look for some good encryption method(s)
Point 2 it would be good to have that kind of feature, i do have the reporting section below in the plugin preview if there are authentication errors or Profile ID error, red/green thing makes sense
hope i’ll have them in 1.1.4.1 or 1.1.4.2 release
thanks for the cool ideas Neoshinji :)

      Hi Yarlung!
Make sure you entered the right “Profile ID”, the one you entered is not a “Profile ID” but “Google Analytics’ UID” so please put the right “Profile ID” to make the plugin work smoothly :)

  29. Posted May 11, 2010 at 2:02 pm | Permalink

I can’t seem to get this to work…when i go to show enter my profile and password it only shows the profile ID.

    • Posted May 13, 2010 at 11:43 am | Permalink

hmmmm what do you see in the preview section? do you see any erry? your password is hidden and you can change it any time the plugin is made that way so you won’t see the password make sure you entered the right profile id, username your gmail and the password with no special characters in it. let me know if this helps if not then lets get in touch and we shoot this problem :)

I have a problem with the plugin

  31. Posted June 2, 2010 at 6:44 am | Permalink

Hi, I’ve a problem. Under the password form appear this label:
Password is protected or re-enter password to change!

And at the bottom of the page:
Google Analytics Visits Error: please enter your account details in the options page.

I enter my account details, but nothing changed…

    • Posted June 2, 2010 at 6:47 am | Permalink

oh hmmm please make note that your password must not contain any special characters
also make sure your username which is your gmail must not contain a “.” (dot) say for example some@gmail.com is not valid since it contains a dot character hope this solves the problem
let me know if you still face any problem, im here to help

      • Posted June 19, 2010 at 10:19 am | Permalink

I had exactly the same problem. It look like the plugin does not save the password. I write it down but nothing happend. Only when i click save the pass desapear and i got the same message at the bottom:
Google Analytics Visits Error: please enter your account details in the options page.

User and pass are only normal characters.
Is possible this plugin is broken??
        I’m ussing WPMU 2.9.2

        • Posted June 19, 2010 at 10:34 am | Permalink

Also i’ve in the DB that the fields are correct.. Now i get error:
Google Analytics Vists Alert: please check/recheck/enter your Google Analytics Profile ID.
(this after i changed the ua code to check if it was validating google page)
Now the ua code is correct but it seems can’t get.. I don’t see where could be the error.
I’ve got the plugin analytics dashboard and it works fine… (curl enabled)

          • Posted June 20, 2010 at 11:31 pm | Permalink

I repeat this plugin must be used only with WP not with WPMU thanks :)

        • Posted June 20, 2010 at 11:30 pm | Permalink

Hi This plugin isn’t designed for WPMU at all so please do not use it for that it only supports WP and till WP 3.0 and works perfectly with it
Let me know if you have any more Questions Thanks :)

So, are you saying that the user cannot have a dot within or the plugin won’t work? So if my username is john@gmail.com won’t work? =/

    Hey,

Mine isnt working also…please help! Is the password supposed to stay in the field once it is saved?

    • Posted June 16, 2010 at 3:39 pm | Permalink

No the password will not be visible once the password is saved and you will have a notification saying “Password is protected or re-enter password to change!” meaning the password is already saved and protected ( so not visible ) and if you think of changing the password you can do it :)
Make sure you don’t have special characters in the password, a-z A-Z 0-9 are fine as password characters.
      Hope this helps :)

      • Posted June 18, 2010 at 11:06 am | Permalink

It wasn’t working but I changed the settings and now it shows total visits as “0″ but I googled my page and had others go on my site and it is still “0″. Does it take a while to it to reflect on how many people visit?

        • Posted June 18, 2010 at 11:08 am | Permalink

I also went onto the google analytics page and my status is shown as “Tracking not installed”.

          • Posted June 28, 2010 at 12:28 am | Permalink

You must have an analytics plugin installed :)

  34. Posted June 19, 2010 at 7:11 pm | Permalink

the plugin don’t work for me. This is the third message i write down i hope it doesn’t get deleted again.
The plugin do not validate me in google analitics. My WordPress is now 3.0
    I get :
Google Analytics Vists Alert: please check/recheck/enter your Google Analytics Profile ID.

I’ve checked in the database and the user and pass is correct. Also the UA code (if the UA format is :UA-XXXXX-X and not any other format) so i guess so i can’t see where is the error.
Peraps the plugin is broken? Could you manage the validation in the same way as Google analycator (it takes you to the google page to validation).
Also other plugins (like google analytics dashboard) works fine. So i guess if i missing something in my server configuration i can’t see it.

    • Posted June 20, 2010 at 11:32 pm | Permalink

Nope the plugin is not broken at all :)
Just that it doesn’t support WPMU,
Works fine for me from WP 2.8 to WP 3.0 :)

      hey Marek,
You just have to drag and drop this widget to the Sidebar from your Admin -> Appearance -> Widgets -> Your Sidebar. Thats it, you don’t have to put any code manually all is automated this way, let me know if you still have any issues im here to help you :)
