Matthew 28:18-20 – Answering God’s Call

Introduction

Jesus declared in Matthew 28:18-20, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…” This isn’t just an inspiring verse; it’s a charge to every believer. We are called not only to receive salvation but also to bring healing and deliverance to those bound by depression, oppression, and spiritual darkness. The world is crying out for hope—will we answer the call?

John 21:15-17

1. Step into Your God-Given Authority

The enemy thrives on keeping believers paralyzed—through guilt, sickness, or fear. Yet Luke 10:19 reminds us that Christ has given us “authority over all the power of the enemy.” How do we walk in this?

  • Repent Quickly: When sin or sickness comes knocking, run to God. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us” (1 John 1:9).
  • Declare the Blood of Jesus: No sickness or oppression can stand where His blood reigns.
  • Stand on Resurrection Power: “The Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you” (Romans 8:11). You are not ordinary—you carry divine power.

Key Insight: The minute you repent and align yourself with God, the enemy loses his legal foothold in your life.

2. Break Free from Empty Tradition

Religious routine without genuine transformation can hinder God’s miraculous work. In Mark 2, friends of a paralyzed man tore through a roof to get him in front of Jesus. They refused to let barriers—or tradition—stand in their way. Similarly, avoid letting customs or man-made rules replace genuine faith:

  • Reject Limiting Beliefs: Don’t assume God only works one way or through one denomination.
  • Embrace the Supernatural: The same Jesus who healed the paralyzed and raised the dead still operates in power today.
  • Seek a Fresh Revelation: Ask the Holy Spirit to show you what He wants to do, not merely what tradition says He did in the past.

3. Write the Vision (Habakkuk 2:2-3)

God has dreams and promises for your life, bigger than any past failure. As Habakkuk says, “Write the vision; make it plain… it will surely come.” If you’ve felt stuck, do this today:

  • List God’s Promises: Write down Scriptures or prophetic words that resonate with your heart.
  • Visualize Breakthrough: Like those who envision themselves preaching, healing, or serving, picture God’s plan unfolding in your life.
  • Prepare for the Overflow: Stay faithful in small responsibilities; God rewards obedience and multiplies your efforts.

Action Step: Open a journal or note on your phone right now. Write three visions or goals you believe God is placing on your heart.

4. A Season of Resurrection and Restoration

No matter how dire your situation looks, it’s never too late for God. In John 11, Lazarus was four days dead when Jesus arrived. Yet Jesus declared, “I am the resurrection and the life.” Here’s what that means for you:

  • Dead Dreams Can Live Again: Whether it’s a broken relationship, a stalled career, or a dormant ministry, God can breathe life into it.
  • It’s Not Over: Delays aren’t denials. God’s timing is perfect, and His power is limitless.
  • Declare Restoration: This year can mark a new beginning for your spiritual growth, finances, health, and family.

Proclamation: “I decree my lost years are restored, my hope is renewed, and my future is secure in Christ.”

5. Prayer for Breakthrough

Father, thank You for the authority You’ve given us through Jesus. We repent of any sin and cast off every chain of tradition, fear, and doubt. Ignite our hearts with faith, and help us walk in the power of Your resurrection. We believe You will restore what has been lost and fulfill every promise You’ve spoken. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
