To know JESUS CHRIST is to know Him as Scripture reveals Him: GOD with us, the eternal WORD who was with GOD and is GOD, Lord and Savior, the only way to the Father, and the One through whom eternal life and salvation are given.
JESUS Himself said:
“And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true GOD, and JESUS CHRIST whom you have sent.” — John 17:3
Again JESUS also said:
“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” — John 14:6
JESUS is not one way among many ways. He is the only way to the Father. Salvation is found in Him alone.
The Bible says:
“If you confess with your mouth that JESUS is Lord and believe in your heart that GOD raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” — Romans 10:9
JESUS is Lord whether people confess Him or reject Him. The gospel calls us to confess what is true, believe that GOD raised Him from the dead, and receive Him.
JESUS Is GOD and the Word of GOD
The Bible reveals who JESUS is. John writes:
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with GOD, and the Word was GOD.” — John 1:1
And again:
“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” — John 1:14
JESUS is the eternal WORD who became man. He came from heaven, took on human nature, lived among us, suffered, died for our sins, and rose again.
Thomas confessed the risen JESUS as:
“My Lord and my GOD!” — John 20:28
Paul also writes:
“For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily.” — Colossians 2:9
The book of Revelation says:
“The name by which he is called is The Word of GOD.” — Revelation 19:13
Therefore, we do not invent our own Jesus. We receive the JESUS revealed in Scripture.
JESUS Reveals the Father
Through JESUS, believers are brought to the Father. JESUS said:
“Whoever has seen me has seen the Father.” — John 14:9
And again:
“the Father is in me and I am in the Father.” — John 10:38
Those who receive CHRIST become children of GOD:
“But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of GOD.” — John 1:12
GOD also gives His Spirit to His children:
“And because you are sons, GOD has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, ‘Abba! Father!’” — Galatians 4:6
Through JESUS, we can call GOD our Father.
JESUS Gives Rest to the Burdened
JESUS invites the weary and burdened to come to Him:
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28
He does not promise a life without suffering in this present world. He gives rest for the soul, grace for the burdened, and strength to follow Him.
JESUS also teaches us to pray in His name:
“Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.” — John 16:24
Scripture also teaches us to pray according to GOD’s will:
“And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us.” — 1 John 5:14
JESUS Sends the HOLY SPIRIT
JESUS promised that the Father would send the HOLY SPIRIT to His people:
“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever.” — John 14:16
The HOLY SPIRIT is not merely a feeling or an energy. He is the Spirit of GOD, the Spirit of CHRIST, who dwells in believers, leads them, teaches them, strengthens them, and transforms them.
The Bible says:
“GOD’s love has been poured into our hearts through the HOLY SPIRIT who has been given to us.” — Romans 5:5
The HOLY SPIRIT gives gifts to the Church according to His will:
“To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.” — 1 Corinthians 12:7
“All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills.” — 1 Corinthians 12:11
The Spirit gives gifts for the glory of GOD and for the building up of the Church.
JESUS Is the Same Forever
He has not changed.
“JESUS CHRIST is the same yesterday and today and forever.” — Hebrews 13:8
The same JESUS who saved sinners, healed the broken, taught the truth, and gave rest to the weary is still Lord today. He still saves, strengthens, and leads His people by His Word and Spirit.
Read the Bible to Know JESUS
The Bible is not merely a human book. Scripture came from GOD as men were carried along by the HOLY SPIRIT:
“No prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from GOD as they were carried along by the HOLY SPIRIT.” — 2 Peter 1:20–21
If we want to know JESUS, we must receive the JESUS revealed in Scripture. GOD has revealed His heart, His truth, His salvation, and His Son through His Word.
So come to JESUS. Believe in Him. Receive Him. Read His Word. Walk by the HOLY SPIRIT. Serve Him with humility. And proclaim the good news, because:
“How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news.” — Isaiah 52:7
May GOD help us to know JESUS truly, love Him deeply, obey His Word faithfully, and proclaim His gospel with humility and joy.
